BYOD Programme

BYOD Programme

The JSRACS Bring Your Own Device (BYOD) Programme is a parent funded program in which students in Years 7 to 12 own and use their own device at school and at home, enabling a more student-centred, experience-rich education, relevant to the 21st Century. The Programme allows students to develop skills, work habits, attitudes and expertise that will prepare them for success and help them to become efficient and effective life-long learners. Technology is used throughout the school to support our students learning. As we are constantly looking for opportunities to meaningfully embed technology into our learning we encourage students to utilise the variety of resources we have on offer within our academic programs. Along with their BYOD we provide students with a range of digital resources including desktop computers in specialised labs, an Industrial Laser Cutter, 3D Printers, banks of laptop trolleys, digital cameras and the ability for students to print their work.

We acknowledge that technology is rapidly developing and ever changing and that learning to use technology to assist in the learning process is more important than ever. We believe that personal preference plays a significant role in successful technology integration into our teaching and learning programs, therefore, from 2020, all students in Years 7 to 12 can opt to use a Laptop as part of the Schools BYOD Programme. Students in Years 7 to 12 who find the iPad still meets their digital learning needs can continue to use their iPads. There is no requirement to purchase a new device and the minimum device specifications have not changed from 2020 to 2021. Below you will find links to documents that provide parents with additional information on the BYOD Programme.
