The River Ranger Cadet program is run for students in years 5 & 6 and is overseen by the Swan River Trust. The cadets are involved in learning about the Swan and Canning Rivers and how they can keep them healthy. They study the history of the rivers and the effects of the growing population on the rivers. The River Ranger Cadets at JSR have been working with the Friends of Bennett Brook in the Bennett Brook region cleaning the area of litter, planting seedlings and water sampling.
They are taught about working safely in nature and participate in a variety of fun activities including abseiling, flying fox and ten pin bowling. They have one, two night camp in November that is aimed at developing their self confidence, leadership skills and a reward for the year’s work.
