Throughout its relatively short history (the School opened in 1989), John Septimus Roe Anglican Community School (JSRACS) has developed an enviable reputation for strong academic achievement, a nurturing pastoral care system, a long established Anglican tradition and a wide diversity of co-curricular activities.

Two Campuses, One School

The John Septimus Roe Anglican Community School dual campus journey school began in 1990 and in a relatively short period of time it has become a dynamic, vibrant and innovative community of learners at both the Beechboro and Mirrabooka campuses.

Vision, Mission And Values

John Septimus Roe Anglican Community School is a school of The Anglican Schools Commission with a mission to build a Christian community of learners, to provide a quality educational experience, and to nurture the whole person in the three dimensions of mind, body and spirit.

Leadership And Governance

John Septimus Roe Anglican Community School was established by the Anglican Schools Commission, and therefore works within the broad parameters set by the Commission.

Chaplaincy

Chaplaincy is an integral part of our school community and we are fortunate to have 3 Chaplains working with the staff and students.

School Performance Report

Each year independent schools in receipt of Commonwealth per capita grants are required under agreements signed with the Federal Government to complete and publish annual performance reports.

Early Learning

Early Childhood is the foundation in which we build the necessary skills for lifelong success.

Primary School Curriculum

In primary school, we are fortunate to have the skills and expertise of dance and drama specialists. All students from Pre-Primary to Year 6 can participate in specialised drama and dance lessons for one phase each per year.

Primary Student Leadership

Leadership in the Primary years is most easily identified as the Primary School Captains standing at the front of assembly or representing the School during events, but it covers much more.

Middle School Curriculum

Middle schooling is an educational approach designed to better cater to the physical, social, emotional, moral and cognitive needs of young people.

Teaching and Learning

We aim to inspire students to enjoy learning and be motivated to achieve personal excellence. We acknowledge the individual strengths of students, and staff are able to cater for the range of ability in the classroom to both support and challenge.

Student Leadership

Students in the Middle School have many opportunities to become involved in leadership positions. These positions are guided by the Associate Principal for Middle School, the Director of Teaching and Learning for Middle School and the six Middle School House Coordinators.

Senior School Curriculum

JSRACS provides a broad range of choices for our students as they select their courses for their final years of high school education.

Rock and Water

The Rock and Water program is a social skills program based around physical exercises and reflection that promotes self-control, self-reflection and self-confidence.

Middle School Pastoral Care

We believe that every student has the ability to unlock their full potential by creating an engaging, positive learning environment. We support our students through their educational and personal developments during these formative years.

Senior School Peer Support

The Peer Support Program has been running since 2001 and has become a popular programme for our senior students.

Specialist Programs

Our Specialist Programs take specific attention to the needs and interests of our students at JSRACS. These programs diversify the learning at JSRACS as well as further enhance the strong community we have at our School.

Primary Co-Curricular

Experiences beyond the classroom provide an opportunity for students to enhance their school journey and allow students to learn, to have fun, to acquire and develop skills and to establish new relationships with like-minded peers, staff and other adults.

Performing Arts & Drama

The vital role played by drama study in a child’s development and education is well known, and our Drama department is an established and integral part of school life.

Music

Music has always been a much loved part of our School’s life and JSRACS has long had a reputation for the excellence of its music and choral programs.

Before and After School Sports

At JSRACS, we recognise the value of sport as a vital part of a balanced education and offer a wide range of sports, with first-class facilities on campus.

Cadets

There are three types of a cadets groups offered at John Septimus Roe Anglican Community School, the River Rangers, Bush Rangers and Emergency Service Cadets.

Scholarships

JSRACS offers four scholarships for students currently attending a school other than JSRACS including our Academic Scholarship two Community Scholarships, the James Martin Scholarship and a Basketball Scholarship which includes participation in the basketball specialist program. The award of a scholarship is at the discretion of the Principal. Applicants must be Australian permanent residents or citizens.

School Fees

We understand that an independent school education is a very big investment for most families and we thank you for considering John Septimus Roe Anglican Community School for your child. In addition to our Scholarships, we also offer the following opportunities to help support our families.

Pre Kindy Enrolment

The Pre-Kindergarten Program operates at both the Mirrabooka and Beechboro Campus and is available for children currently enrolled to attend Kindergarten at JSRACS.

International Students

ASC International forms part of the Anglican Schools Commission (ASC) and is responsible for the recruitment of international students to ASC Schools.

School Uniforms

The JSRACS Uniform Shop is now run by Matrix Uniforms. This is a fantastic opportunity for the school community as it will ensure that the essential items on the uniform list will be more cost effective.

Old Scholar’s Association

John Septimus Roe Anglican Community School was founded in 1989 when the Anglican Schools Commission acquired the Northside Christian School at Beechboro. In 1992 the first stage of the Mirrabooka Campus opened and in 1996 the two campuses became known as John Septimus Roe Anglican Community School.

Parents and Friends

John Septimus Roe Anglican Community School’s Parents and Friends (PandF) committee is passionate about strengthening our school community. We are a positive and engaged group of volunteer school parents and guardians who organise events and activities that bring families and friends together to celebrate the special community we are all a part of.

Out of School Care

The School operates an Out of School Care (OSC) program for students in Kindergarten to Year 7 and is comprised of three components.

JSRACS Playgroup

Playgroup operates for enrolled siblings every Wednesday morning on both campuses. Playgroup is a parent-run activity, however, Mrs Hughes our Pre-Kindy teacher attends the start of each session alternating campuses each week.

Important Dates

JSRACS runs a full calendar of events for students and school families and all families are strongly encouraged to subscribe to the JSR Community Calendar. Information on how to subscribe to the calendar is available in SEQTA. Parents are welcome at major school functions such as Founders’ Day and the Commissioning of Student Councillors, as well as smaller events such as the Primary School Assemblies.
