Dancing is so much more than just grooving on the dance floor to your favorite music. Dance not only trains your brain and develops your body’s motor skills but it also is an excellent exercise for your entire body. It helps you to stay physically and mentally fit, improve your general well-being and boosts your self-esteem.

JSRACS students have the opportunity to participate in dance classes from an early age and with the support of the cocurricular clubs in Years 3 – 6 the dance community is thriving. Students have the opportunity to be involved in Groove and Move, Boys Dance group and Let’s Dance club.

Skills learnt in these clubs and our specialist dance classes, provide students with the confidence to perform at the annual Twilight Fair, audition for the Primary Musicals and perform at the Dance United Primary Dance Festival and Primary Dance Night.

Dance is celebrated at JSRACS through a variety of performance based experiences catering for all ages and levels. The cocurricular program provides each student with the opportunity to progress in their technique, develop confidence and enrich and enhance creativity.

Within the program students also have the opportunity to get to know like-minded peers and develop new friendships through the various clubs on offer.

Activities on offer include:

Dance Club
Within Dance Club students participate in rehearsals once a week culminating in a number of performances throughout the year including Dance Night and Choreography Night and Family Fun Day. Middle School Dance Club is for students in years 7-9 and Senior School Dance Club for students in years 10-12.

Choreography Night
Choreography Night is the biggest event in the Dance calendar. Within this program students are able to audition for a number of Year 12 student choreographers. Once selected into a piece, they rehearse each week culminating in the performance season in Term 3.
