Tully – Year 11
Congratulations to Year 11 student Tully who swam in the Busselton Jetty Swim One Mile Swim to Shore in February and was the third female to finish with a time of 27m 17s.
This is a fantastic achievement especially as this was her first open water swim and the conditions were quite challenging.
Tahlee – Year 12
Congratulations to Year 12 student Tahlee McVee who was selected to represent Western Australia at the Australian Combined Events Championships in Queensland, from 15-16 February 2020.
Tahlee earned this selection through her first placed finish at our WA Combined Events competition from 23-25 November 2019, at which Tahlee set a new Under 18 WA state record in the Heptathlon. Athletics in WA hope to support her representation at the Australian Combined Events Championships as the current state record holder and member of the WA State Team in the Under 18 Heptathlon.
Results from the competition
Tahlee McVee won the Under 18 Heptathlon with a massive score of 5328 points. She had Personal Bests in 100m hurdles of 14.11 sec, long jump 5.77m and javelin 41.86m within the seven events in the heptathlon.
The score of 5328 is a new WA state record, beating her previous record set in November for the Under 18 Heptathlon. The score is also above the qualification for the World Under 20 Athletics Championships in Nairobi in July.
This score should move Tahlee upwards from 9th in the world in her age group, where she was previously ranked, for the Heptathlon according to World Athletics (IAAF).
We look forward to watching your Athletics success as we have no doubt you are destined for great things.
