A Journey Beyond the Classroom

Some of life's most valuable lessons happen outside the classroom. Through camps, tours and exchange opportunities, JSR students develop resilience, leadership, cultural understanding and confidence while creating lifelong memories and meaningful connections with people and places around the world.

Building Confidence Through Experience

Camps are an important part of the JSR experience, providing students with opportunities to develop resilience, teamwork, leadership and independence in new and engaging environments.

Beginning in Primary School, students participate in year-level camps that foster personal growth, relationship building and a sense of community. As students progress through Secondary School, camps become increasingly focused on leadership, challenge and self-discovery.

Opportunities include:

  • Year 6 Camp
  • Year 7 Transition Camp
  • Year 9 Rite Journey Camp
  • Peer Support Camp
  • Year 11 into Year 12 Leadership Camp
  • Outdoor Education Camps and Expeditions

Whether navigating outdoor challenges, developing leadership skills, or strengthening friendships, our camp programme encourages students to embrace new experiences and grow in confidence.

Expanding Horizons

Our tours provide students with opportunities to explore new places, cultures and perspectives, bringing learning to life through real-world experiences.

Through carefully planned local, interstate and international opportunities, students deepen their understanding of language, culture, history, geography and global citizenship while developing independence and adaptability.

Optional Tour opportunities may include:

Indonesian Cultural Tour

Students experience the rich culture, traditions and daily life of Indonesia while strengthening language skills and developing meaningful global connections.

China Study Tour

A unique opportunity to immerse students in one of the world's oldest civilisations, exploring culture, history, language and contemporary society.

Year 12 Japan Ski Tour

Combining adventure, cultural immersion and international travel, the Japan Ski Tour provides students with an unforgettable experience as they explore Japan's unique traditions while developing skiing and snow sport skills.

These experiences encourage students to become curious, open-minded and globally aware citizens.

Creating Global Connections

Our programs provide students with the opportunity to experience life and learning from a different perspective.

Through connections with our partner schools, students can immerse themselves in another culture, attend classes overseas and develop meaningful international friendships. Students also have the opportunity to welcome visiting exchange students into our community as host families, gaining valuable intercultural understanding right here at JSR.

Exchange programmes allow students to:

  • Develop independence and confidence
  • Experience different educational systems
  • Build language and communication skills
  • Foster cultural understanding and global awareness
  • Create lifelong friendships and international connections

These transformative experiences help prepare students for an increasingly interconnected world while broadening their horizons and deepening their understanding of diverse cultures.

A Journey Beyond the Classroom

At JSR, camps, tours and exchanges are more than extracurricular opportunities; they are powerful learning experiences that challenge students, nurture personal growth and open doors to the wider world. Together, they help shape confident, capable and compassionate young people who are ready to embrace future opportunities with curiosity and courage.

“Our camps, tours and exchanges help students develop the confidence, character and global perspective needed to thrive in a changing world.”
