Our Time to Consolidate and Grow
In Primary at JSR, students engage in a holistic program that connects learning to real-world contexts through inquiry, problem-solving and reflection. With a strong focus on literacy, numeracy and wellbeing, students build confidence, independence and respect for others. As they grow, they develop critical thinking, collaboration and a deeper sense of responsibility for their learning and the world around them.
Year 2 to Year 4
In Years 2 to 4, students engage in a holistic program that connects learning to real-world contexts through building, designing and problem-solving. With a strong focus on literacy, numeracy and wellbeing, students develop confidence, independence and a growing sense of self, while learning to collaborate, respect others and take responsibility for their world.During these years of schooling, children have a holistic curriculum that enables them to build, design, problem-solve, represent and reflect on learning in a meaningful context. There is an emphasis on literacy and numeracy alongside social and emotional development so that children can build strong relationships, work with others and develop a respect for differences and diversity in others. Students develop a stronger sense of self, their place in the World and their responsibilities to the World. Learning programs encourage children’s autonomy, intellectual risk-taking, responsibility and control of learning. Teaching and Learning programmes are responsive to children’s continuing maturity, growth and development.
Years 5 and 6
Children entering the upper years of schooling grow and develop their sense of themselves and their world as they begin to appreciate different points of view and develop the ability to think in more abstract terms. Their
developing social skills allow them to participate as a part of a group, with increasing expectations relative to their responsibilities towards themselves and others. In exploring their physical, social, cultural and technological world, students are supported to take risks in their learning, while also being more aware of how their behaviours, values, language and social practices impact themselves and others. Students reflect on their learning and work practices and with guidance and feedback, consider ways to improve, modify and extend their learning, while challenging themselves along the way.

We empower each child to be adaptable to change, think creatively, and communicate with confidence, building the skills they need to thrive both now and into the future.
Specialist Learning Years 2 to 6
Unlike many schools, JSR offers specialist learning in the primary school years, delivered by passionate educators with deep expertise in their fields. Providing this unique opportunity enriches each child’s experience, broadens their opportunities, and helps them discover and develop their individual interests, passions and talents.
Cocurricular Opportunities
From Year 2 to Year 12, JSR offers a wide range of co-curricular opportunities for students to discover their passions and interests. With before and after school activities including Chess, Music, Performing Arts, Science, Sport, Sewing, Art and Craft, Lego, and academic support, there is always something to get involved in, helping students connect with others while exploring what they love.
