Basketball at John Septimus Roe Anglican Community School (JSRACS) has moved from strength to strength over the years, with continued success in both the Associated and Catholic Colleges (ACC) and Champion Schools competitions. In 2019, we introduced a Specialist Basketball Program for Year 9 students as a means of fostering basketball opportunities for talented players. The aim is for the Program to grow and develop across all year groups in 2020 and beyond.
Supplementing the holistic education provided by the school, the Specialised Basketball Program at JSRACS aims to develop physical skills and fitness, teamwork and interpersonal skills. It will focus on improving the player’s individual skill set, their overall understanding of the game and basketball concepts that will enable students to compete successfully in basketball at the highest level. With specialist individual and team coaching sessions within the school timetable, students will grow as basketball players and experience high-level fitness, speed and agility training that will accelerate the leap to becoming an elite player.
JSRACS offers basketball scholarships to Year 8 students entering Year 9 in 2023. The scholarship will commence in 2023 when students are in Year 9 and will continue until the students graduate in 2026.
Trials for 2024 Program
Trials for the 2024 JSRACS Basketball Program will be held on Saturday the 24th of June 2023 at the JSRACS Gymnasium commencing at 9.00am. These trials are for any person in Years 8, 9 or 10 who either attend JSRACS or another school who are wishing to be a part of the Specialist Basketball Program in 2024. Students already in the program are not required to attend this trial.
Students applying for the scholarship are required to participate in a Basketball trial alongside other applicants and students from JSRACS who are aiming to join the Basketball Program.
